Cyprus named date of resumption of flights with other countries

The date of the restoration of international air traffic was named by the Government of Cyprus. On May 22, Minister of Transport, Communications and Public Works Yannis Karusos told journalists. The gradual lifting of restrictions on hotels and airports will begin on June 1, and international flights will resume on June 9. Such a decision was taken on 22 May by the Council of Ministers of the Island State. At the very beginning of the resumption of the resort season tourists from 19 countries of the world will be accepted. Experts based on the epidemiological picture divided countries into two categories. Tourists from countries of both categories will have to carry a certificate that they have no coronavirus infection, the test must be done no later than 72 hours before departure. After June 20, such a certificate will be required only from tourists from countries of the second category. At the same time, the list will be supplemented as the picture of the incidence of COVID-19 in foreign countries improves. The first category included Greece, Malta, Bulgaria, Norway, Austria, Finland, Slovenia, Hungary, Israel, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia, Lithuania. In the second category Switzerland, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Estonia, Czech Republic. Earlier, the news agency reported on the preparation of Cyprus for the beginning of the tourist season, which is expected to begin on June 15.
