Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea and Myanmar held a telephone conversation on May 15, during which they discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations in connection with the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and cooperation in the fight against coronavirus infection. This is reported by Yonhap News with reference to representatives of the South Korean Foreign Ministry. South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Gyung-hwa noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations the countries have made great progress and added that the governments of the two states will continue to work on the development of bilateral relations in the future. She also emphasized that South Korean authorities would continue to assist ASEAN countries, including Myanmar, in combating the epidemic. In turn, Myanmar's Minister of International Cooperation U Kyau Tin praised the South Korean government's efforts to combat coronavirus and expressed gratitude for the supply of medical supplies, including coronavirus diagnostic kits. Representatives of the two countries also agreed to continue work on joint projects, including a project to build an industrial complex that will facilitate the entry of South Korean companies into the local market, after the stabilization of the coronavirus situation.
